Marthe Armitage is an inspiration. Born in 1930 and having studied painting at the Chelsea School of Arts, in the 1950s she started designing lino-cut wallpapers. All of Marthe’s designs are hand-drawn and after sketching the design she uses hand-cut lino blocks and a century-old offset lithographic printing press to create custom-printed rolls of wallpaper. It is a time-consuming creative process.
Marthe Armitage has transferred six of her original hand lino-cut designs into hand screen printed fabrics and wallpapers, in a simple colour palette of six colours. Customers may also view and select from the incredible hand printed selection and order directly with Nicola Lawrence at email@example.com . Please view the short video on Marthe Armitage. She is a true artisan.
