Colour My World - Anna Spiro Textiles

I was thrilled to open a parcel from Anna Spiro today: the Anna Spiro Textiles samples. They were beautifully packaged and each one was a joy to see and hold. The depth of colour is true, the prints are so versatile and pretty and the Belgian linen basecloth is wonderfully tactile.
I have been wandering around our home with the samples in hand and they work well in every room with a range of other textiles and colours. I can’t wait wait to use one or two myself.
As mentioned on the Anna Spiro Textiles page, Lanikai is Anna’s, in partnership with her brother Sam Spiro, first textiles collection. It is designed by Anna and hand screen printed in Australia. The collection is inspired by Anna’s family holidays in Hawaii, where she is transfixed by what she regards as ‘impossible beauty’ and spends the happiest of days there, ‘resting and living a beautiful life’. The collection reflects her ‘family’s love for the place, the kindness and warmth of the people there and the sublime summers by the beach’.
Having, with my husband, soaked up the glorious colours and scenery of the south coast of NSW over the last few days I have been unable to stop singing the happy and apt words of Petula Clark:
Oh, you can colour my world with sunshine yellow each day!
Oh, you can colour my world with happiness all the way!
Just take the green from the grass and the blue from the sky up above!
And if you colour my world just paint it with your love!
I can’t help but think that these words describe the inspiration and joy that Anna has put into the Lanikai collection and if a textiles collection ever had a matching song, this would be it.
Samples and fabrics by the metre are available to order at Nicola Lawrence through the Anna Spiro Textiles page, under the heading ‘Textiles’.
